I have stayed at Ethiopia between 1 Jul 2010 and 19 Mar 2012 as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer to teach basic science to local kids.
今月初めから勤務校に教育実習生が来ていました。総勢6名。教科はそれぞれ違い、所属する学年も1年2名、3年4名という編成。 Trainee students came to my school from the beginning of Sep. They were 6 students. All taught different subjects. Two of them were belong to grade 7 and others were grade 9.
そして私も指導教官に。前任校でも話があったのですが、そのときは学生がドタキャンして立ち消えに。ですので、今回が初めての実習生指導です。 I undertook the teaching of one of them. When I was in the former school, I would have undertaken, but he quitted just before training. Therefore, it’s for the first time to do it.
私の頃は2週間の実習でよかったのですが、今は3週間以上必要です。なかなか大変ですね。 When I was under training, students should take training for 2 weeks; over 3 weeks now.
協力隊で行ったエチオピアはと言うと・・・よくわかりません。 2年目に実習生が来ていましたが半年近くいると聞きました。 I don’t know how long in Ethiopia where I stayed as a volunteer. I saw trainee students in 2nd year and I heard they were trained for a half year.
そもそもエチオピアの実習生は(私の配属先では)実習生というより、補充戦力といった様相でした。 Trainee students in Ethiopia (in my assigned school) seemed not as students but reserved teachers at ready.
実習生としての紹介もないし、指導教官もみっちり指導してる感じがしない。 まぁ経験がものをいう職業ですから実習を通じて学べばいいんですが、先輩教師がうまくフォローしているかちょっと疑問です。 They were not introduced as trainee students. I didn’t think adviser taught them strictly. I thought they studied through intern because teachers needed much experience. I wondered if experienced teachers advised them.
翻って自分。 生徒に対してもそうですが、実習生に対してどこまで教え込むかの線引きが難しかった。 自分で考えて取り組ませる必要があると同時に、短い期間なので修正しておいた方がいい部分もある。 Let’s move on me. It was quite difficult how much I taught the trainee student. She needed to consider by herself; but I sometimes needed to correct her style
自分もまだまだ半人前だと自覚させられる期間でもありました。 During training period, I realized I cannot do something properly.
実習生が実際に教職につくかどうかわかりませんが、この経験を糧にしてもらえたらと思います。 I hope, I don’t know whether she would be teacher or not, she will learn a lesson from this experience.
